BioBlitz on the Mill Creek!

  • Salway Park Spring Grove Avenue Cincinnati, OH United States (map)

Groundwork Cincinnati, in conjunction with the Ohio Nature Conservancy, will be hosting a #BioBlitz along the Mill Creek this summer!

"A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. At a BioBlitz, scientists, families, students, teachers, and other community members work together to get an overall count of the plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms that live in a place."

We have brought in plant and animal experts to help lead the identification of all the plants and animals found.

We are conducting this along the Mill Creek Greenway Trail at Salway Park on Saturday June 2nd at 10am. We are reaching out to the different communities along the creek in this section of the trail (Northside, Spring Grove Village, South Cumminsville, and Winton Hills) to engage with them so as to educate and engage with the community members regarding the Mill Creek. Its also a great way to highlight the changes that the Mill Creek has undergone in the past twenty years as well as showing off the restoration sites that Groundwork has along this section of Mill Creek.

We will also be reaching out to other local organizations to get the word out!

So come out, learn, engage, and have a great time with groundwork while learning about the plants and animals that are calling Mill Creek home !
