Teachers

Each school year, we provide training for new teachers starting our program and a refresher for current teachers. Newcomers receive a comprehensive briefing about the school program and Mill Creek watershed, health and safety protocol, water quality monitoring methods, and data interpretation and analysis.  Teachers interested in our school program should visit the environmental education page for more information.

Volunteers

Water Quality Monitoring Volunteers - each year volunteers are assigned to work with a school and attend 3 to 5 field trips during the school year.  Volunteers support the teachers and mentor the students while conducting the water chemistry and biological monitorings.  New Water Quality Monitoring Volunteers are trained with the teachers on our program and monitoring methods in August or September each year.  If you are interested in volunteering your time for our local youth please contact us or send in a completed application.

Field Work Volunteers - Groundwork Cincinnati - Mill Creek schedules site work volunteer days at its greenway sites on a regular basis. View upcoming volunteer dates. All volunteers are trained on site at each event.  We provide tools, work gloves, and drinking water. Work includes clearing of underbrush and invasive plants, native plant identification, mulching and raking, trash pickup, solid waste removal, soil preparation, seed planting, and placing/planting or relocating of trees and shrubs.
